1ST and 2ND Grade- Plants

 This lesson works for both 1st and 2nd grade and covers the parts of a plant and the plant reproduction cycle Presentation: Plants Activities: I assigned simple movements to each part of the plant, and we put the movements together to this song. Students loved it!  Flower, Stem, Leaves, and Roots Song Drawing Crazy Flowers: Students took turns rolling a giant die (can also use an online dice roller). I would ask "how many roots?", the student would roll the dice, and then they would draw that amount of roots on the board. 3RD GRADE: Landscapes

 Landscapes Presentation  : Introduces vocabulary, covers the entire unit  Activities: -As a class, we compiled a list of natural and manmade features of landscapes on the board. Students then had to draw a landscape in their notebooks and must include AND label 5 natural features and 3 manmade features.  -Pictionary: Students take turns drawing the vocabulary words (bridge, river, village, etc.) and the other students guess -Hangman: Students guess letters to spell the vocabulary words  -Map Hunt: Teams compete to find certain landmarks the fastest on a map (River, bay, ocean, mountain range) - Jeopardy Review of the Unit - Vocabulary Memory Game Online Worksheet:  Mountain or Coastal Landscape?

5th Grade: Matter

Intro to Matter- Topics include: What is matter, Intro to solids, liquids, and gas, Mass, Volume, Density, and Buoyancy Presentation: Introduction to Matter Activities: Float or Sink 1 Online WS Float or Sink 2 Online WS Mass and Volume Online WS Videos: What is Matter? Float or Sink Experiment Changes in Matter- Topics include: How matter can change shape and form (heating, cooling), and physical versus chemical changes Presentation: Changes in Matter Activities: Changes in Matter Online Worksheet Students were asked to write examples of solids, liquids, and gasses on the board in 3 columns. We also played "Hangman" with the vocabulary words like "Combustion", "Fermentation", and "Oxidation" Videos:  Water, Ice, Gas Changes in Matter
